'Life is a Label' AW14

Hi Dolls,

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Last night I attended the 'Life is a Label' fashion show for the end of 'Dublin Fashion Festival.' It was held at the Royal Hibernian Way with reception and after party in the Grafton Lounge.
Unfortunately I had to work until 7.15pm and therefore had to rush into town but luckily I made it just on time. Apologies for the poor quality of my photos though as I had to use a phone to take the pics and due to running so late I wasn't in the best seat. But anyway...life goes on :P

The show was hosted by Irish fashion designer Bebhinn Flood and Irish style guru Brendan Courtney also made an appearance. The show was styled by a past fashion lecture of mine, Grainne Walsh. The show featured looks from Arnotts and Brown Thomas. Check out some of the pics below and scroll down to see my Trend Overview and What I wore...x

Trend Overview:
The key trends for AW14/15 which were apparent at the show were:
-Loose flowing midi skirts paired with over-sized knitted jumpers
-Sleek and Over-sized silhouettes
-Light wash skinny jeans teamed with over-sized jumpers
-Draping in the form of tops and dresses for evening wear
-Cowl neck jumpers
-Simple shift dresses
-Over-sized, faux fur coats

The dominant color palette for the season throughout this fashion show was a mixture of purples, burgundy, greys, black and cream.

I also took a few short video clips of the show so check them out below!

What I Wore:
I don't actually have any full length pics of myself from the night but I went casual wearing a black and white Kim K t-shirt by brand 'Eleven Paris' which is available in BT2, A boyfriend blazer from Vero Moda, Quilted leather boots by Nine West, Legging from H&M and 'Relentlessly Red' Lipstick by MAC.

My Fitness Journey...Week 2

Hi Everyone,

I have just finished week 2 of my new Healthy lifestyle and I am feeling great already :) I have lost 3 pound this week and I am delighted! I know it's not a huge amount but slow progress is better than no progress, right? :) I have also been told that losing up to 2lb a week is the average healthy pace for long term weight loss and prevents muscle loss!

Aside from actually losing weight I have noticed my moods improve and my energy levels have improved a serious amount! I have been waking up earlier and I have been getting straight up and making my breakfast and then preparing my lunch for work.

So, what have I been doing this week? Well, a friend of my Sister's who has lost 5 stone in less than a year e-mailed me some of her tips on both diet and exercise and I found this really motivating as she has really worked so hard to see results, so the next day I went grocery shopping and picked up some of the things she recommended to start incorporating them into my diet. Some of these included, Flaxseed, Natural/Greek Yoghurt, Coconut Oil and berries. Most mornings this week for breakfast I have had strawberries and grapes mixed with Greek Yogurt and sprinkled on top with Flaxseed, it is so yummy and is so refreshing first thing in the morning. Flaxseed is great to add as it contains Omega 3, Protein, Iron and Magnesium among many other things that are health beneficial.

For my lunch I have stuck with my marinated chicken fillet and salad, I have been cooking the chicken in coconut oil this week. I
also want to start using coconut oil on my skin and hair so I will do a separate post on that :)

I was really craving chocolate this week so on Sunday I had a lil cheat and had a bowl of Cocopops with low fat milk and a low fat hot chocolate. I know cereal isn't great and is full of sugar but you have to allow yourself a lil treat sometimes so as not to deprive yourself and end up binging! (Excuses, excuses!) Haha!

I worked out 4 times this week and I tried yoga with a friend. It was fun and relaxing and I had sore muscles in my stomach and arms the next morning so it must have done something right! And another day I went on an hour long cycle in the park to mix things up a bit! For the week ahead I plan on sticking to the same eating plan as last week and just increasing my weight training in the gym as I have still been doing mostly cardio this week with just a few weights mixed in at the end. However I know that the more muscle you build, the more fat you burn as well as shaping your body and toning up so I am defo going to take that on board this week in my workouts!
I think that's everything for this week :) and remember if you have any questions or any advice you'd like to share with me then you can e-mail me at sassiedoll@outlook.com or Private message me on facebook HERE

Thanks for reading, I'll be back next week with another Fitness update...

BEAUTY BARGAIN OF THE WEEK...

Hi,

It's been a while since I have done a Beauty Bargain of the week so I thought a new one was well overdue.
This weeks product is a current favorite of  mine which I had previously mentioned in my Beauty Haul post last month (which you can read HERE). At that time I had only just purchased it and was already loving it, since then I have been using it religiously (unless its a late night and I end up just using a face-wipe, oops!). It is the NIVEA Micellar cleansing water, it is currently on offer for 4 in Dunnes Stores and lasts about 6 to 8 weeks if using daily.

So, why is this product so great?! Well, first of all it is extremely gentle on the skin, I personally don't like cream based cleansers as I feel they are too thick and leave a residue on my skin where as this just feels like water on your skin yet it is deeply cleansing and removes make-up. It is also moisturizing without feeling like there is any product on your skin. As well as all of this it is a really natural product free of parabens, colours and perfume. It also prevents redness, tightness and dryness after cleansing! So for only 4 Euro, how could you not try it?!

I saw a similar Micellar water based cleanser by Neutrogena today which I really want to try as well. I have been using a Neutrogena face wash for years and swear by it so I will defo try this one at some stage and do a review and comparison :)

Hope you enjoyed!

BEAUTY: Interview with MAC Make-up Artist Fabiana Coppola

Hellooo :)
This week I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing the extremely talented Fabiana Coppola! Fabiana is a professional MAC make-up artist who has been working in the industry for years. Her work is so creative and flawless that she can make anyone look and feel like a million dollars :) Check out our interview and pictures of Fabiana and her work below...Enjoy x

Q. When did you realize you wanted to be a make-up artist and what inspired you to pursue it?
A. With virtually no knowledge of make-up, I was given my first brush set at 17 and re-created a look I saw in a magazine. It was the first time I realized I was actually good and something so I decided to make a career out of it!

Q. How long have you been working in the make-up industry?
A. I have been working in this industry for 6 years now.

Q. Who is your Style Icon?
A. It changes quite frequently, but right now, Oliver Proudlock. His style is so unique, he can pull off anything! I'd love to dress like him and just add a feminine twist with my make-up.

Q. Who is your biggest inspiration in the Fashion/Beauty industry?
A. Kabuki, he is a make-up God! A sign of true talent is when you can look at an image and tell who the artist is straight away. With him, I can always tell.

Q. What is your signature make-up look?
A. My make-up is very structured. I like my eye shadow winged and love overdrawing my lips to perfection.

Q. What is one product you could not love without?
A. Ruby Woo lipstick by MAC. I feel like the most powerful person on the earth when I wear lipstick and if a product makes you feel that way, you should never have to live without it!

Q. Do you have any tips on how to best prep your skin before applying make-up?
A. Prep for your individual skin type. This is so important if you want perfect skin. Use Gel based products for dry skin or use products containing Silica to combat oily skin.

Q. What are your favorite products for Contouring?
A. I like to mix up my textures. I prefer to use cream for highlighting the cheekbones to give a soft natural look, nothing too glittery. To contour, I use powder. 'Baby do not Go' Prolongwear MAC blush and Pearl cream colour base are all you will ever need.

Q. What is your fave make-up Trend for this Season?
A. The constant re-occurring Trend of Dewy, Glowing skin will always be my favorite. Whether you decide to go for a full blown smokey eye or just lashing on the mascara, if your skin is flawless you will look incredible every single time.

Q. Do you have any advice for any young girls hoping to break into the make-up industry?
A. Do it for the right reasons, not just because you think its all Glamour. I became an artist because make-up brought me out of my shell and I wanted to help other people to feel that way. With make-up, you can see your client's confidence level physically go from a 3 to a 10 because of your work. If you think you would find that rewarding, then you are looking into the right Industry!

Thanks so much Fabiana for answering all of our questions.
If you would like to see more of Fabiana's amazing work (and pics of her adorable Chihuahua Olive) then you can follow her on instagram @FABSYYY or for bookings you can contact her on: 0857038737

FASHION: Billboard Music Awards 2014 - Best and Worst Dressed

Hi Girls :)

I am sooo sorry I haven't been posting as much over the last few weeks, I had assignments due for my Fashion Buying course and also work full time so and not to mention my laptop was broke so it's been hard to find the time to write! But my assignments have been handed in AND my laptop is fixed so stay tuned for some regular new and exciting posts over the next while including a new 'I Want Her Wardrobe' which will be live on the blog by the end of the week!!! Yay! :P

So here's a quick Fashion fix to keep you going...My Favorite Fashion from the Billboard Music Awards 2014 and the Worst! Enjoy...xXx

Chrissy Teigen - I have seen this dress on a few 'Worst dressed' lists but this dress is definitely one of my Fave's of the night, it is so unusual yet doesn't look too over the top...love it!

Nicki Minaj - Nicki has really toned down her style lately and I think it is really doing her justice, she looks great in this simple cut out black number.

Kendall Jenner - Kendall looked Stunning in this simple sexy and chic look.

Jennifer Lopez - I'm not sure if this should be in the worst or the best dresses?! I am kind of 50/50 about this outfit, I think it is a bit more of a stage/performance look rather than for the red carpet but either way she always looks great!

Miranda Lambert - I have to admit, I love a bit of a barbie look sometimes, I think Miranda looks great in this low cut, Barbie Pink dress!

Lucy Hale - This look is cute and girly, my only complaint is the shoe, I think with the length of the dress this type of sandal shortens the legs but other than that she looks great!

Unfortunately there is always a few who don't do it quite right, here are my Worst dressed of the night...

Kelly Rowland - I like the skirt but this top is just a bit too much (or little) I love a nice crop top but the shape of the neckline is just so unflattering and a bit too revealing so I'm afraid this is a worst dressed for me :(

Kesha - I have never really been a big fan of Kesha's style and for some reason this dress just isn't working for me, what do you guys think?

Cher Loyd - This kind of looks like some sort of Halloween costume to me, not my fave,
Soz Cher!

Natasha Bedingfiled - I'm not really sure what's going on here but I don't like it! Ha!
